A legacy established in 1945 when Elizabeth McIntosh became the first Black female owned insurance agency in Illinois. She focused on taxi and limosines.   Elizabeth's son, Donald McIntosh inheirited his mother's  legacy in 1991 and has expanded the company's product lines to include a full array of  personal and business lines and construction contractor products, that include life, health, bonding and workmen's compensation.

In 1994, Don revamped the agency to capitalize on the needs of the construction industry. The diversity issues facing prime contractors, project owners and government agencies created the niche to establish McIn & Associates, Inc. The new agency provides consulting and training, was awarded a contract from the City of Chicago to assist their certified diversity construction firms with securing bonding.  The firm was given 21 of the most financially distressed certified firms and within 6 months secured financing and bonding for 20 of those firms.  Thereafter, the firm was contracted by the City of Chicago to provide bonding services for all their certified construction firms.  Diversity participation increased from 5% to 80%.  His firm was instrumental in providing the City of Chicago a blanket bond program for all their certified diversity firms, despite their credit worthiness.  This was the first of its kind.  In 2000, his firm provided services to assist Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) certified diversity firms reduce their insurance cost.  The program achieved a 30% reduction in insurance cost for IDOT participants in their program.  McIn & Associates, Inc continues to provide insurance and bonding services to the private, commercial, industrial and institutional industries.
